An infant in the county known as Maricopa County has fallen prey to the flu and this has marked the very first death among children in the season due to flu as per the Department of Public Health.
On Tuesday, their press release said that the baby had been too young to get a shot of the flu vaccine.
In the release, the medical director of the department for control of disease said that it is incredibly unfortunate and the case has reminded them that even though the flu is a common disease, it can be extremely serious and can cause serious illness and in some cases be fatal causing death.
She said that it is a reminder tragically that anyone who can get the shot of flu as soon as they can, not only for their own protection but also for the protection of those who are around them and are at the biggest risk of severe disease and death due to flu.
There was no death in the county in the previous year due to flu, however, there were three deaths which had taken place in the year 2017.
As of now, in this season there have been reports of a total number of 935 cases in the county which is almost four times that of what they were at a similar time in the last season.
The CDC has issued a recommendation that everyone who is of the age of more than 6 Months must get the flu vaccine as soon as they possibly can.
They also tweeted to this effect and asked people to help in controlling the spread of flu by vaccinations.
