In just 18 months of living, Rio Farr has been through a lot. This is the name of a child who was almost dead when he had been born but now he seems to be perfectly fine on the first look.
When he was born, his father says that he could not speak. He said that his face was as if he would cry but no noise was coming out.
The airway of this kid was almost completely blocked. A team that constituted of doctors and also nurses had tried to repeatedly insert a tube for breathing without getting any success. Although a tracheotomy done on an emergency basis had stabilized Rio eventually, the doctor had told the parents about how the condition of this baby was severe and what it might mean for them and the kid.
The mother said that the doctor had been talking very animatedly and descriptively about the severe moderate and mild levels of brain damage which could have been caused to the child.
One day later however, the child started to respond to this treatment without brain damage that was detectable. He had been moved to Los Angeles in a children’s hospital and into Dr Christian Hochstim’s guidance.
The doctor said that the child’s vocal cords had been fused completely and there had been just a little hold at the back where he had been able to breathe.
The condition occurs only in one of 10,000 children. Surgery done could then enlarge the airway successfully and managed to save the life of the kid and also give him voice.
A few months later now he can speak and the tube has been taken away, he is able to breathe properly too.
