Cancer has been the most difficult illness to cure over the years taking many lives being a silent killer. Breast cancer is usually wrongly considered as a cancer that doesn’t kill too many people but is actually fatal in a lot of situations.
However the researchers at Mayo clinic claimed to have come up with something that will help in moving a step closer to the removal and prevention of a few types of cancer. The Mayo Clinic has recently made an announcement that at the facility it has in Florida, they had been successful in the removal of breast cancer from one of the patient who had participated in the clinical trial for one of their new vaccines
This patient had been previously diagnosed with the disease breast cancer Stage 0, which had meant that the cancer was there but had not spread. The vaccine developed by this clinic had been successful in completely removing the cells of cancer by stimulating the own immune response of the patient and use it to attack this cancer.
Their doctor has explained that if the humans are able to have an immune system which is trained to recognize the cells that are precancerous or cancerous then the immune system can help in their elimination even before they are developed. They said that in the future they would be attempting to prevent the breast cancer in women by giving healthy women a vaccine for breast cancer.
It has been estimated that there are 268,000 women in US who have been diagnosed with the invasive breast cancer each year. The doctors at the Mayo Clinic have said that they might have a vaccine available for the widespread use of the vaccine in eight years approximately.
