Spike In The Number Of Injuries Caused By Cellphones Post 2007, Shows Study

The cellphones which have been created for our convenience are now posing a problem to humans.

A study that was conducted had looked into the data of 20 Years from the hospitals and has found that recently there has been an increase in the injuries which were caused to the eyes, face, neck, and head of a person due to the cellphones.

The injury in a lot of cases was minor, such as bruises and cuts, however, there were a few which involved severe fractures and injuries to internal organs which had the risk of complications in the long run as per the study which had been published on Thursday.

Most of these cases had resulted from distraction too like walking or driving while using mobile phones, however, there were others that had been caused by the device itself such as the explosion in a battery or the phone hitting a person’s face.

The findings of the study suggest that a need has arisen for the education of the public about the risks that usage of cellphones and specifically distracted behaviors can cause in addition to the other activities, says the study.

The study also showed that there was a steady increase in the injuries to head and neck until 2007 when a spike happened as the smartphones began to enter the market. These devices are now necessary, however, may be potentially a dangerous tool that most people in the United States use.

The data was used from 100 hospitals which had recorded as many as 2,501 patients who had suffered the injuries in the period which was studied. The estimated total nationally by the researchers is approximately 76,000 patients.
