More females have blamed Lyft of failing to defend them in opposition to sexual assault. A bunch of 20 females has taken legal action against Lyft over claims that they were raped or sexually assaulted when the ridesharing firm allowed “known sexual predators” to provide service. The company’s response to these issues over the last 4 Years has been “awfully inadequate,” as per the case.
The complaint also blames Lyft of concealing the extent of sexual assault problems, marketing a culture that hushes victims and hampering police efforts to probe cases. It does not tell females how Lyft probes incidents, whether or not there were earlier reports or even whether or not the firm has fired an offending employee from the firm.
The females further claimed that Lyft’s latest switch to a standardized answer to claims of misconduct, stating that it might result in an ancient decision-making procedure that lowers the capability for humans to address and recognize patterns of behavior. The method can allow predators remain on Lyft “until a more serious case,” as per the case.
In an interview to the media, Lyft did not claim how or if it might contest the lawsuit. It rather aimed on how it built security “into each aspect of our work” and executed security “policies and features.” The firm claimed that it offers emergency tools such as fast 911 access, continuously monitors drivers for offenses, and a “Critical Response Line” for emergency issues.
The lawyers for the females argued that Lyft does not do “actual screening,” although, and that it does not correctly alert them about the possible risks. They further claimed that Lyft has not shouldered prices for victims. And essentially, many of the security enhancements only came comparatively lately.
